The Caledonian Hotel is located in the village of Fort Augustus which is nestled between the hills of the Great Glen at the south end of Loch Ness. At the heart of the village is the Caledonian Canal which lies between the river Oich and the river Tarff which feed into the loch. The hotel is within a five minute walk of Loch ness and the canal lock gates as well as other local amenities within the village such as the post office, petrol station, shops, pubs and restaurants.

The hotel is easy to find and sits just off the A82 with off-road parking.
Fort Augustus is the crossroads for all sorts of holiday makers; from hillwalkers to cyclists; car clubs to motor bikers and canoeists to horse riders. Whether you chose to travel by land or water, our prime location is perfect for a Highland getaway. leisurely weekend or travel enthusiasts and outdoor adventurists alike.

Walkers, bikers and cyclists:
If you are travelling by bike, let us know ahead so we can prepare space in the shed for you to lock away your bike at night. We also ask that all wet or muddied outdoor garments are not taken into the rooms. Although we don't offer a laundry service at the hotel, we do make every effort to cater for guests coming to us after a wet day in the hills. We have a drying room for boots and jackets so that you set off on your next day dry and toasty!
